Release Me

Release me from sorrow,

For a better tomorrow,

This cold breeze,

Will only but freeze,

This ache in my soul,

I need a new goal.

Here in the park I sit,

My heart is split,

Grey skies, gaps of blue,

Skeleton trees with green hue,

The old branches spread,

Ancient trees dead,

For young shoots to grow,

This will now show.

The old bandstand,

Used to look so grand,

Now it’s corrugated steel,

To blot out how I feel,

Kids play football,

In the cage so tall,

Oblivious to pain,

It looks like rain…
